Man killed at Trump rally ‘died a hero,’ says Pennsylvania governor

Corey Comperatore, 50, was a firefighter and father of two daughters.

The man killed at a Trump rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on Saturday has been identified.

Corey Comperatore, 50, was a firefighter and father of two daughters, Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro said Sunday. He was from Sarver, Pennsylvania.

According to Shapiro, Comperatore died “a hero” when he “lunged at his family” during the rally to protect them from the gunfire, his wife said.

“Corey was an avid supporter of the former president and was thrilled to be with him in the community last night,” Shapiro said.

Pennsylvania State Police identified the two injured victims as 57-year-old David Dutch of New Kensington and 74-year-old James Copenhaver of Moon Township.

“These victims and their families are in our thoughts today,” said Pennsylvania State Police Chief Col. Christopher Paris. “The Pennsylvania State Police continue to work tirelessly with our federal, state and local partners as this investigation continues.”

In a post on TruthSocial, Trump expressed his condolences to the victims and their families.

“We pray for the recovery of the injured and keep in our hearts the memory of the citizen who was so cruelly killed,” he wrote on Sunday.

“He was a father. He protected his family from the bullets that were fired and he lost his life. God bless him,” Biden said.
