Chicago police shooting: Perpetrator injured in police-involved shooting in Humboldt Park on North Avenue, COPA investigates

CHICAGO (WLS) — A perpetrator was shot by a Chicago police officer in the northwest of the city on Saturday evening.

The police-involved shooting occurred around 8:48 p.m. in the 3800 block of North Avenue, Chicago police officials said.

Officers attempted to conduct a “street check” on two suspects in an alley at the location in question, police said.

The suspects then fled from police and one of the perpetrators attempted to pick up a gun after trying to throw it away during the chase, officials said.

A Chicago police officer shot the perpetrator several times, the CPD said. They were arrested and taken to Stroger Hospital, where they were initially in good condition.

The age and gender of the perpetrators were not immediately known.

The officer involved in the shooting was placed on administrative duty for 30 days.

The Civilian Office of Police Accountability is jointly investigating the shooting with the Chicago Police Department.
