Officials call off search for New Hampshire man who fell overboard off Maine

Authorities are suspending their search for a New Hampshire man who fell overboard from a recreational boat off the coast of Maine Thursday evening.

U.S. Coast Guard officials said 30-year-old Edward Berke entered the water in Casco Bay near Clapboard Island in Maine shortly before they received the call around 8 p.m.

Security guards reportedly searched an area of about 350 square miles that night into Friday, but found no sign of Berke other than a pair of flip-flops he may have been wearing.

According to officials, three other people were on the boat when Berke went into the water.
