4 dead, 3 injured after shooting in Florence

Five people are dead, including the suspect, and three others have been hospitalized after an overnight shooting in Northern Kentucky.Florence police officers responded to a home on Ridgecrest Drive in Florence, Kentucky, around 2:51 a.m. Saturday morning after receiving multiple calls reporting an active shooter inside the home.When they arrived, officers said they found seven people with gunshot wounds, four of whom were pronounced dead at the scene.The other three victims were taken to UC Hospital. Her condition is currently listed as critical but stable.Police said the suspect fled the scene in a motor vehicle when officers arrived.Officers said they quickly located the fleeing suspect near Farmview Drive and US 42 and attempted to stop him, resulting in a chase.The pursuit ended on Dale Heimbrock Way near Hicks Pike after the suspect’s vehicle left the road and entered a ditch.Officers said they found the suspect had a self-inflicted gunshot wound and was taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. He has not been identified by police. The Florence Police Department’s Investigative and Crime Scene Units arrived at the scene to begin the investigation. Police stated there is currently no threat to the public as the suspect acted alone. Florence Police officers responded to a home on Ridgecrest Drive in Florence, Kentucky early Saturday morning around 2:51 a.m. after receiving multiple calls regarding an active shooter inside the residence.

Upon their arrival, officers said they found seven people with gunshot wounds, four of whom were pronounced dead at the scene.

The other three victims were taken to UC Hospital. Their condition is currently described as critical but stable.

Police said the suspect fled the scene in a car when he arrived.

Officers said they quickly located the fleeing suspect near Farmview Drive and U.S. 42 and attempted to stop him, leading to a chase.

The pursuit ended on Dale Heimbrock Way near Hicks Pike after the suspect’s vehicle left the road and entered a ditch.

Officers said they determined the suspect had inflicted a self-inflicted gunshot wound and was taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Police have not yet released his identity.

The Florence Police Investigation and Forensic Units arrived at the crime scene to begin their investigation.

Police said there was currently no danger to the public and that the suspect acted alone.
