NEW DELHI: Many were surprised when Rishabh Pant was selected as the first wicketkeeper-batsman for India’s T20 World Cup team ahead of KL Rahul, but this did not lead to any complications as India won the T20 World Cup undefeated.

Pant was involved in a high-speed accident on the Delhi-Dehradun highway on the night of December 30, 2022. His car caught fire, but he escaped fortunately despite serious injuries.

After a year of intensive recovery and rehabilitation, Pant returned to professional cricket during the Indian Premier League this year and made his comeback for the Indian national team at the T20 World Cup in America this month. The 26-year-old not only made the team but also justified his selection with good performances both with the bat and behind the wickets.
