HSV man fatally injured in motorcycle accident

A Hot Springs Village man was killed Friday night when he lost control of his motorcycle on Highway 5, according to a preliminary fatality report released Saturday by the Arkansas Department of Public Safety.

Michael Cox, 66, riding a 2016 Harley-Davidson, was traveling north on Highway 5 shortly after 7:30 p.m. and approaching Periwinkle Road when he allegedly failed to negotiate a curve, veered left off the roadway and struck an embankment.

Cox was thrown from the motorcycle and pronounced dead at the scene by Garland County Coroner Jayson Neighbors.

The report notes that conditions were clear and dry at the time of the accident, which was investigated by the Arkansas State Police.
