Fayette County Social Media Fraud Alert

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — Representatives from Lex End Homelessness are warning residents about a scam circulating on Facebook that falsely claims to reopen the waitlist and increase funding for the Section 8 Housing Voucher Program. The scam involves accounts with generic names like “Housing Authority.”

Authorities confirm that Section 8 waiting lists in Fayette County are currently closed. They urge everyone not to click on links to these fraudulent websites and to report the fake accounts to Facebook.
