University of Hyderabad Students: Suspension of UoH students sparks nationwide protests | Hyderabad News

Hyderabad: The Students Federation of India on Wednesday announced that it will organise nationwide protests against the suspension of five students of the University of Hyderabad for allegedly attacking the vice-chancellor’s house on May 18. It announced that it will burn dolls of the University of Hyderabad and the vice-chancellor on Thursday for suspending students and imposing fines on another five students. “This is the first time that the students’ union president has been suspended for fighting for students’ rights. All the suspended students are from marginalised communities and will be affected,” said SFI general secretary T Nagaraju. He said they will support the suspended students and fight for the revocation of their suspension. The UoH Students’ Union, meanwhile, said it has taken inspiration from the Rohith Vemula movement and has decided to continue its fight. For this purpose, a sit-in will be held at Velivada, North Shopcom, where Rohith and others had led the fight against the autocratic administration. The UoH administration, on the other hand, claimed that the students were suspended only after following due process and that the students’ protests were not peaceful and led to major disturbances among VC and his family on the night of May 18.
