New Haven notifies individuals of data protection incidents

New Haven, Connecticut/WTIC Radio – The City of New Haven and the Department of Education are informing individuals about a cyberattack last year that cost the city millions of dollars.

These individuals received letters informing them that personal information, such as birth dates and social security numbers, may have been compromised in an email cyberattack last June.

Unauthorized access to accounts was detected between June 1 and 18 last year.

Letters were then sent to over 300 people.

The city says it is not aware of any cases of fraud or identity theft at this time.
