Palm Beach County Sheriff’s deputy arrested for drunk driving

A Palm Beach County Sheriff’s deputy was arrested over the weekend. According to Palm Beach County Clerk of Court Sedrick, J. Allen was arrested Sunday morning and charged with driving under the influence, assault on certain persons, resisting an officer and reckless driving. A spokesperson issued the following statement to WPBF 25 News on Monday: “The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office holds its employees to the highest standards and never forgets its duty to maintain the public’s trust. Unfortunately, sometimes an employee makes a poor decision that leads to misconduct. This misconduct was reported, investigated and determined to be criminal in nature, which led to the charges. The Sheriff’s Office will continue to remain vigilant to ensure our efforts are professional and meet the high standards the public expects.” A spokesperson added that Allen, who was arrested by the Florida Highway Patrol, is currently on paid leave. Allen was released from jail late Sunday morning. His next court date is July 29.
