19-year-old woman killed in car crash in Morrow County

The accident occurred on County Road 25 near County Road 170 in Harmony Township shortly after 7 a.m.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — A 19-year-old woman is dead and another person is hospitalized with serious injuries following a crash in Morrow County Thursday morning, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The accident occurred on County Road 25 near County Road 170 in Harmony Township shortly after 7 a.m.

According to OSHP, 19-year-old Amayala Wampler was driving a Jeep Liberty north on County Road 170 and failed to stop at a stop sign. She was struck by a Chevrolet Traverse traveling east on County Road 25.

Wampler’s Jeep went off the road, overturned and crashed into a fence.

Both Wampler and the driver of the Chevrolet were flown to Grant Medical Center. Wampler was pronounced dead a day later.

According to police, the other driver suffered serious but not life-threatening injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
