Here’s a heat wave for Buffalo, Western New York!

Buffalo, New York (WBEN) – An extra day!

More comfortable conditions are on the horizon, however, National Weather Service forecasters say we will have to endure a few more days of hot and humid weather.

Unlike days earlier this week when heat indices were dangerously high, an oscillating frontal boundary will support enough cloud cover and thunderstorm activity to mitigate the heat. However, with thunderstorms there will be a risk of torrential downpours and severe weather. Locations northeast of Lake Erie, southeast Erie, and eastern Chautauqua counties will have the lowest storm risks.

Sunday will be a transition day and will become quite windy, with wind gusts up to 45 mph. The strongest winds will be felt northeast of Lake Erie, across the Niagara border. Sunday, highs will range from the upper 70s over the highest terrain to the low/mid 80s elsewhere.

For those who are tired of the heat and humidity, Monday is your day. The work week will begin with a significantly cooler air mass and less humidity. Highs on Monday will be in the 70s, near 80F in places.
