Emergency response to grain elevator incident in Franklin County

A rescue operation was conducted in Franklin County in which a person trapped in a grain elevator was safely freed and hospitalized after more than four hours. The incident occurred near Greencastle shortly before 11 a.m. on Friday.

Multiple fire departments from Maryland and Pennsylvania, including the Washington County Division of Emergency Services and the Hagerstown Fire Department, responded to the emergency in the 14000 block of Williamsport Pike. The circumstances that led to the person becoming trapped are still unclear.
