Semi-final in Nottingham interrupted due to fight between Raducanu and Boulter

Emma Raducanu and Katie Boulter will have plenty to think about as they recover from their dramatic 80-minute opening set in the semi-finals of the Rothesay Open on Saturday. Raducanu fended off three set points before converting her sixth to win the first set 7-6(13) against the defending champion before play was suspended due to lights out.

Earlier in the day, Raducanu reached her first semifinal since 2022 after winning by walkover against Francesca Jones, who had to withdraw due to a shoulder injury.

Due to the interruption, the second semifinal between former No. 1 Karolina Pliskova and Frenchwoman Diane Parry was also cancelled. After rain delayed the start of play, Pliskova fought hard to reach her third semifinal of the season, defeating No. 1 seed Ons Jabeur 7-6(8), 6-7(3), 7-5.

The players will return on Sunday to complete the two semi-finals, with the winners moving on to the final later in the day.

Parry reached her first grass semifinal without much drama. The 21-year-old Frenchwoman did not lose a set in Nottingham and moved into the last four with a 6-3, 7-6(4) victory over Kimberly Birrell.

It will be the first meeting between Pliskova and Parry, with the Czech contesting her first grass semifinal since the 2021 Wimbledon final.
