Democratic Senator John Fetterman of Pennsylvania was speeding when he collided with a car on Sunday. Police say he was at fault.

According to a recently released police report obtained by DailyMail.com, the Democrat is “at fault” for hitting a car while driving “at a high rate of speed, well above the speed limit.”

Maryland State Police told DailyMail.com that the senator was driving a Chevrolet Traverse in northern Maryland near the Pennsylvania-West Virginia border on Sunday when he struck a Chevrolet Impala.

After the accident, both Fettermans were taken to War Memorial Hospital in Berkeley Springs, West Virginia. Senator Fetterman was treated for a bruised shoulder.

The Democrat has had several health problems in the past, most notably suffering a stroke during his campaign for the Senate in 2022.

Since his stroke, Fetterman has suffered hearing impairments that have left him dependent on a phone or tablet-based transcription system to clearly understand colleagues and reporters as he works on Capitol Hill.

This led to the installation of a live captioning system at the Democrats’ desk in Washington, DC

He is known to sometimes answer reporters’ questions with only half sentences.

The accident occurred on the westbound lanes of Interstate 70 near Interstate 68, authorities said.

“According to a preliminary investigation, a Chevrolet Traverse and a Chevrolet Impala were both traveling westbound on I-70 when the Traverse struck the rear of the Impala for unknown reasons,” a Maryland State Police spokesperson told DailyMail.com.

The collision occurred on Sunday morning shortly before 8 a.m.

“A passenger in the Traverse and the driver of the Impala were taken by ambulance to War Memorial Hospital in West Virginia for treatment of their injuries,” the spokesman said.

“No citations have been issued,” authorities said, adding, “The investigation into the accident is ongoing.”

A spokesman for Fetterman’s office confirmed the incident to DailyMail.com on Monday.

“On Sunday morning, John and Gisele were involved in a car accident with another driver.”

According to authorities, the investigation into the crash is still ongoing

“Out of an abundance of caution, they were examined at a local hospital.”

“John was treated for a shoulder contusion and was released that same afternoon.”

The couple are “doing well” and “happy” to be back at their home in Braddock, Pennsylvania, the spokesperson added.

Fetterman’s office did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the finding that the Democrat was blamed for the accident.
