Boxing star Ryan Garcia arrested at the Waldorf Astoria in Beverly Hills

Boxing star Ryan Garcia, who has a record of 25-1 and 20 knockouts, was arrested on Saturday evening at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in Beverly Hills.

Garcia appeared calm when police took him from the hotel, reports show. He was arrested on suspicion of vandalism. His attorney later said Garcia was “transported by BHPD to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment.”

A Beverly Hills Police Department watch commander confirmed the arrest.

Damages over $400 are considered a crime under California law.

The boxer’s attorney, Darin Chavez, told ESPN that his client could also face a charge of public intoxication. Chavez said Garcia is struggling with family and mental health issues.

“Ryan has spoken openly about his mental health struggles over the years and is currently dealing with tremendous emotional distress,” Chavez said in a statement to ESPN. “The support and understanding of fans and the public is critical as he navigates these personal challenges. We are working diligently to provide Ryan with the resources he needs.”

The case will now likely be presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

Hours before his arrest on Saturday, Garcia posted disturbing messages on X about people protecting “pedophiles” and complained that he had not yet been paid for a fight.

“Everyone is disgusting (swear word) and tries to hide their mistakes,” Garcia wrote in his last post on Saturday around 3 p.m.
