Supermarket employee who sexually abused children on their way to school must go to prison

A supermarket worker who committed a series of sexual crimes against women and children has been sentenced to four years and six months in prison.

Carl Adimado, 34, of Enfield, was sentenced to prison at Snaresbrook Crown Court on Tuesday after admitting 37 charges, including more than 20 counts of upskirting and five counts of sexual abuse of a child.

Some of the sick crimes were committed against children on their way to school.

The sex offender’s offence came to light after he filmed a woman up her skirt at the supermarket where he worked near Seven Sisters Road on July 10 last year.

When the police analyzed the video footage, it emerged that he had committed sixteen upskirting offenses against eight victims in a single day.

He was charged by mail with these sixteen offenses.

An examination of his phone then revealed a shocking catalogue of indecent images of children and a “large number” of videos showing him touching and exposing himself in public.

The footage also showed him sexually harassing female students on their way to school.

He was taken into custody and later pleaded guilty to 16 counts of upskirting.

Using the school uniforms worn by the child victims in the videos, officers were able to locate their school and identify each of them.

Adimado was charged with a further 21 offences, bringing the total number of charges to 37. The offences took place in Hackney and Enfield.

The offenses included two charges of engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child and two charges of taking indecent photographs of children.

Met PC Lee Ravens said: “Carl Adimado is a criminal offender who has committed a wide range of indecent offences against women and girls on a large scale. He clearly would not stop until he was caught.”

In addition to his prison sentence, Adimado must serve a suspended sentence of three years and six months.

He will also be placed on the sex offenders’ register for life and will be subject to a restraining order to prevent sexual violence.

PC Ravens said: “This case clearly shows that crimes of this nature must be reported to the police.

“Just one brave woman coming forward enabled us to remove a dangerous and callous sexual predator from the community where he was committing assaults against women and schoolgirls. It also enabled us to identify and support other brave but vulnerable victims.

“I applaud her actions and hope that this case encourages other women to come forward and report incidents of this nature, knowing that such reports will be taken seriously and fully investigated.”
