Authorities said they are investigating a shooting in Homestead involving a Miami-Dade police officer.

The shooting occurred Thursday evening near the corner of N Krome Avenue and NW 2nd Street, officials at the scene said.

The investigation is also taking place just around the corner from a Homestead Police Department building.

The police did not initially provide any information about the motive for the shooting. It is also not known who the officer shot.
