Recent reports from the Springfield Township Police Department:

27 May

Shoplifting: At 12:35 p.m., a 33-year-old Philadelphia man was arrested after security at Macy’s in the Springfield Mall reported him stealing over $140 worth of underwear. He was found to have an outstanding Philadelphia warrant for his arrest and was later turned over to Philadelphia Sheriffs.

Lower ring: At 2:27 p.m., a 44-year-old Upper Darby man was observed stealing over $400 worth of merchandise from Target in the Springfield Mall by using the self-checkout lanes and paying for only a few items.

28th of May

Receiving stolen goods: While on patrol at approximately 7:21 p.m., Officer Walsh observed a vehicle with a stolen license plate in the 100 block of Baltimore Pike. Walsh stopped the vehicle and identified Dennis Glenn, 39, of Philadelphia as the driver. The license plate had been reported stolen in Philadelphia earlier in the day. Glenn was taken into custody and charged with receiving stolen property and held for arraignment.

29 May

Vandalism: Shortly after noon, a resident of the 400 block of Southcroft Road reported that four tires of a vehicle parked on the street had been slashed sometime after 10:30 that morning.

Theft: Just before 7 p.m., a customer at Outback Steakhouse in the 1100 block of Baltimore Pike reported that her wallet was stolen from a chair while she was eating. She reported that two women sat next to her briefly but did not order and then left the dining room. The wallet was later found in a dumpster on the property and the victim’s credit card was used at a Drexel Hill store.

31. May

Registered vehicle: At some point during the night, an unlocked vehicle parked in a driveway on Indian Rock Drive was broken into and cash was stolen.

Alcohol consumption by minors: Male minors from Springfield and Clifton Heights are facing charges of underage drinking and parking violations after they were found consuming an alcoholic beverage at Walsh Park in the 100 block of Powell Road during the prohibited time at 10:30 p.m.

1 June

Theft: Shortly before 11 p.m., the windows of three parked vehicles in the 600 block of Fairview Road and South Chester Road were smashed and items were stolen from inside the vehicles.

3rd of June

Registered vehicles: Just before 3 a.m., officers responded to Norwinden Drive after receiving information that a stolen vehicle from Upper Darby was in the area. The vehicle was not found, but three unlocked vehicles were discovered that had been broken into and ransacked. Officers located suspects in the 900 block of Stoneycreek Drive fleeing in two waiting vehicles, one of which was reported stolen, out of Wilmington.
