Former Detroit Lions TE arrested after incident in supermarket

Former Detroit Lions tight end Brandon Pettigrew found himself in legal trouble on Sunday following an alleged incident at a Texas supermarket.

According to police reports via TMZ, Pettigrew became aggressive during an argument with officers at a Dallas 7-Eleven at 2 a.m. Sunday morning before allegedly throwing a punch at the front door, breaking the glass. It’s not clear what sparked the argument.

According to the report, authorities aimed tasers at the former NFL tight end but did not use them. He was arrested without further incident and charged with criminal damage. The 39-year-old was released from custody at around 1 p.m. the same day.

According to TMZ, this is the third time Pettigrew has been arrested. In 2017, he was arrested for his alleged role in a bar disturbance, and in 2018, he was arrested for allegedly punching a police officer.

Pettigrew, a former first-round pick of the Lions in 2009, spent seven seasons with the franchise, collecting 301 receptions for 2,965 yards and 17 touchdowns, playing his last snap in 2015.

Before joining the Lions in the NFL, Pettigrew played college football at Oklahoma State, where he finished his college career with 112 catches for 1,450 receiving yards and nine touchdowns.
