Pune: Pune police told the court that they suspected the involvement of several people in tampering with the blood sample of the 17-year-old. The teenager is alleged to have crushed two people to death with his Porsche last month.

So far, the boy’s mother, two doctors and hospital staff have been arrested for allegedly switching the accused’s blood sample to prove that he was not drunk at the time of the accident. However, police claim they have CCTV footage showing that the accused was drinking alcohol with his friends at two bars shortly before the incident.

“The defendant’s parents tampered with evidence”

The police have also accused the boy’s parents of attempting to tamper with evidence. Speaking to ANI, a police official said, “Both of them had gone to the hospital and were involved in tampering with the blood sample of the minor accused. The blood sample was taken to determine the alcohol content in the minor’s blood.”

During the hearing, police said they had evidence that the accused’s blood sample was mixed up with the blood of another person. “We have also confirmed this from the CCTV footage available at Sassoon Hospital. Hence, both father and mother have been charged under sections 120b and 201 of the Penal Code,” police added.

Importantly, police have opened three separate cases in this case. These include one for the accident, another against the bar that served alcohol to the minor, and a third case against the boy’s father for allowing the minor son to drive the car without a valid license. Recently, police also arrested the boy’s grandfather, who allegedly kidnapped the driver and pressured him to take the blame for the accident.
