Several people injured in two shootings in Des Moines

Four people were injured after two early morning shootings in Des Moines. The first incident occurred just before 1 a.m. in the 1300 block of East Ovid Avenue on the city’s east side. Police found a 36-year-old man with a gunshot wound. He is in serious condition. Less than an hour later, around 1:30 a.m., police were dispatched to Ashworth Park, where they found a 34-year-old woman shot. She is now in critical condition at UnityPoint’s Iowa Methodist Medical Center. Shortly afterward, two 19-year-old men showed up at MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center with gunshot wounds, according to police. Witnesses report seeing a large crowd in the park’s parking lot at the time of the incident. Des Moines police are still investigating both incidents. We are waiting to hear if there were any arrests.
