Wildwood police said they had lifted the state of emergency that had been declared in the New Jersey coastal community on Sunday evening.

According to the authorities, the decision to close the beach promenade was made after numerous incidents of civil unrest.

The state of emergency was declared shortly after midnight on Monday morning.

Authorities said the emergency response effectively resolved the problem and thanked visitors and residents on land for bearing the inconvenience.
