Porsche accident in Pune: Police say accused teenager’s blood sample was thrown in the trash; 2 doctors arrested

The Pune CID has arrested two doctors for allegedly tampering with the blood sample report of the minor accused in the Pune Porsche accident, apparently to prove that he was not drunk at the time of the accident.

The two doctors arrested by the police were identified as Dr. Ajay Tawade and Dr. Hari Harnor of Sassoon Hospital.

In a press conference, Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar said that the teenager’s blood samples had been thrown into a garbage bin and that the sample examined by forensics was not that of the accused.

“On May 19, around 11 am, the blood sample taken at Sassoon Hospital in Pune was thrown in a dustbin of the hospital and the blood sample of another person was taken and sent to the forensic laboratory…” Kumar said.

During the investigation, the Pune Police Commissioner claimed, it was found that CMO Srihari Harnor had swapped the teenager’s blood sample on the instructions of the Sassoon Police Commissioner’s Forensic Department.

“CMO Srihari Harnor has changed this blood sample. During investigation, we found that Srihari Harnor has changed it on the instructions of HOD of Sassoon Forensic Medicine Department, Ajay Tawre,” said CP Amitesh Kumar.

Notably, the teenager’s first blood test had tested negative for alcohol. However, a viral video showed him drinking for hours before ramming a motorcycle with his luxury car, resulting in the deaths of two IT professionals.

Meanwhile, another attempt by the teenager’s family to prove that it was not he, but their family driver, who was behind the wheel at the time of the accident was thwarted by the criminal police.

Investigators have arrested the minor’s grandfather for illegally detaining the family driver.
