Baltimore man charged with involvement in kidnapping that left man dead in abandoned car

FREDERICK COUNTY, Md. – Another person was arrested for their involvement in a murder in Frederick County in January.

Alonzo Epps, 23, was arrested in connection with the death of Brice Wendell Boots.

He is charged with first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, kidnapping and carjacking.

On January 10th at approximately 1:32 p.m., Frederick County deputies responded to the 8200 block of Crum Road for a report of an abandoned vehicle.

The caller reported that the vehicle had been driving with its turn signal on since 7 a.m

Boot’s body was found inside.

According to charging documents, investigators eventually traveled to Pikesville to retrace his steps.

Neighbors told investigators that Boots’ estranged wife, Frances Hamilton, and her nephew, Keon Wilson-Hawkins, were at Boots’ home the night before his body was found.

A search of Boots’ home revealed that a fight occurred on the night of January 9th.

According to police, cell records indicate that Wilson-Hawkins “forcibly abducted” Boots from his home before leaving him for dead in the field.

Wilson Hawkins and Boots were observed leaving the house at 4:37 a.m. that morning and arriving at the field at approximately 6:20 a.m

According to the records, Wilson-Hawkins walked home alone at 6:30 a.m.

PAST: Man’s body found in abandoned vehicle in Frederick County

Investigators attempted to contact Hamilton without success. She was found dead in Anne Arundel County on February 24th. Investigators suspect she took her own life.

On March 8, a grand jury in Frederick indicted Wilson-Hawkins on charges of first-degree murder, kidnapping and carjacking.
