BTS’s Namjoon had an accident on the Come Back to Me set, says Lee Sung-jin

Director Lee Sung-jin, who recently directed the music video for “Come Back to Me,” has spoken out about working with BTS leader RM. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, he recalled how RM, aka Kim Namjoon, reacted after he met with an accident while filming the song. Speaking about RM, Sung-jin said: “You’re always a little nervous when you work with these huge global superstars. Do you want to rehearse? Do they take notes? RM was up for anything. He was there for hours.”

He added: “First shot of the very first scene, he leaned over and his head hit the camera and there was a huge cut in his eye and I immediately thought, ‘Oh, great, I’m going to get deported straight away because I’m’.” I just scratched this national treasure. “To his credit, he went to the hospital, got stitches, came back and was ready to go.”

Sung-jin also shared that RM “came back the same day,” adding that filming took place over three days in Paju, which is about “an hour and a half outside of Seoul, a little closer to the North Korean border.” He called RM “so versatile and open to directions,” adding that the BTS leader would continue to push him during their collaboration. He said RM would check the monitor and say, “We can improve that a little bit.”

About RM’s upcoming album

Last week, RM released the music video for his pre-release track “Come Back to Me.” The song is part of RM’s second solo album “Right Place, Wrong Person”. It is an 11-track album that “captures some of the universal emotions we all experience at some point in life, such as feeling like an outsider who doesn’t fit in.” The album will be released on May 24th at 1pm (KST).
