Susan Backlinie, first victim of Jaws shark attack, dies aged 77

Susan Backlinie is no more.

Back line, who was the first victim of a shark attack in Steven Spielberg’s film Jawdied at the age of 77.

Convention All Stars owner Sean Clark confirmed this diversity that the actress died of a heart attack at her residence in California on Saturday morning.

Backlinie, who was also a former stuntwoman, was a customer of the company.

The actress was best known for her role as Chrissie Watkins in Jawwho is killed by a killer shark being dragged to her death in the classic opening scene of the 1975 film. In addition to being a stunt performer, Backlinie was also an experienced swimmer.

She appeared in various films until the early 1980s, most notably the infamous film directed by Jim Henson The big Muppet caper(1981) and Spielberg 1941(1979).

She also appeared in the JawParody scene in 1941where facing a Japanese submarine, not a great white shark.

Backlinie has a few television series on its credits list including The pursuit, QuarkAnd The Guy case. Other film credits include: The Grizzly and the Treasure(1975), A stranger in my forest(1976) and Animal Day(1977).
