Police expert says suspect in New York ‘lasso’ rape likely committed similar attacks | The post-millennial

A police expert pointed out that the attack allegedly caught on camera by 39-year-old Kashan Park was not the first time he had committed it.

A Bronx police officer told the New York Post, “I definitely think he’s done this before.”

“It was too clean,” the detective explained. They usually make big mistakes the first time. That wasn’t a mistake. This guy was precise.”

On Saturday, Parks was arrested as the suspect in a viral video that showed a man sneaking up behind a 45-year-old woman, placing a belt around her neck, then dragging her between two cars and raping her while she was unconscious.

“There are probably more victims out there, but what happens is they pass out and don’t remember anything,” the source told the Post. “How do you get the belt around your neck so perfectly?”

Police announced that Parks had been charged with rape, assault, strangulation, sexual abuse, public indecency and harassment. They also revealed that he had been arrested five times. Pix11 reported.

Authorities determined that the woman regained consciousness and went to seek help at Lincoln Hospital’s trauma center, about four blocks from the scene of the attack. They said she knew her attacker and did not immediately report the attack.

Barrier Free Living Executive Director Cynthia Amadeo praised the woman’s actions. She told the outlet, “Go to the hospital, tell the police and find resources for yourself.”

“That was an amazing thing that she was able to do for herself,” she noted. “This person sought help, this person spoke up.”

The incident came as there was a rise in rape incidents in the region in April compared to the previous year. Also, 511 rapes have been reported in the city so far in 2024, which is the same as in 2023.
