According to police, the incident occurred in December 2020. The girl and her brother were at home while the parents were at work. When they returned home after buying snacks from a nearby shop, they were intercepted by the accused. He sent the girl’s brother home and took her to his house.

Some time later, the girl’s brother came back to look for her and heard her calling for help from the accused’s apartment. He rushed there, found the accused raping the girl and raised the alarm, after which the accused fled. He was later arrested and subsequently released on bail.

The Special Court for POCSO cases announced the verdict and also imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 on Jagtial.
