Mumbai lawyer arrested for raping his client’s daughter

Mumbai-based lawyer Ali Kaashif Khan Deshmukh was arrested on Saturday after his client’s daughter accused him of rape, unnatural sexual intercourse and criminal intimidation.

Deshmukh was reportedly involved in the divorce proceedings of the plaintiff’s mother.

After his arrest on Saturday, Deshmukh was produced before a holiday court on Sunday, which remanded him in police custody for three days.

According to the plaintiff, Khan raped her twice: once in his car after slipping something into her drink, and once in his apartment. She claims he filmed both incidents.

She claimed that Khan discovered her family’s connection with a senior politician from Navi Mumbai and then asked her to help him extort money from the politician. When she refused to help Khan, he allegedly raped her again, recorded the act and threatened to circulate the video if she did not help him file a false rape case against the politician.

The plaintiff claims that she agreed to help Khan under duress and that they managed to extort Rs 2.7 million from the politician by filing a false rape complaint.

She claims that the second rape took place when Khan invited her to his home to share the money he obtained through extortion.
