IMPD officer arrested for drunk driving in Hendricks County

DANVILLE, Ind. (WISH) – An Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officer was arrested Thursday for driving under the influence, IMPD said in a news release Saturday.

On Thursday, officers with the Hendricks County Sheriff’s Office arrested IMPD Sergeant Peter Fekkes on suspicion of driving under the influence. After further investigation, officers arrested Fekkes for driving under the influence. Fekkes was suspended at the time of his arrest and was banned until released.

On April 10, IMPD Chief Chris Bailey suspended Fekkes without pay pending a recommendation of discharge from the Civilian Performance Commission. This was related to a previous arrest in Ohio in 2022. At the time of his arrest Thursday, Fekkes had no police authority or powers, IMPD said.

This incident is being investigated by the Hendricks County Sheriff’s Office.
