Death of Waldoboro, Maine man leads to three arrests

CUSHING, Maine – A third person has been charged in connection with the investigation into a death in Knox County.

Kyle MacDougall, 45, of Waldoboro was found dead after Maine State Police detectives and crime scene technicians were called to a residence on River Road in Cushing on July 13 and 14. The cause and manner of death are not yet known.

John Flower, 39, of Rockland was arrested Thursday and charged with obstructing public safety, a Class B felony, Maine Department of Public Safety spokeswoman Shannon Moss said in a news release Friday.

Flower was being held in the Knox County Jail on other charges when Maine State Police detectives arrested him around 1:30 p.m. Thursday. He was scheduled to appear in Knox County Superior Court at 1 p.m. Friday.

Jason Hewett, 39, of Augusta, was also named as a suspect in MacDougall’s death. Hewett was charged with fleeing from a police officer, domestic violence and manslaughter, Moss said. He allegedly led Augusta police on a chase that ended in a four-hour standoff.

Mark Gagne, 41, of Cushing, was charged with hindering apprehension and mistreatment of an offender, authorities said.
