After officers found a burned car in February, fire investigators arrested the car’s owner on Monday.

According to a news release from Cal Fire-Butte County, Troy Barton Wallers, 54, was arrested on suspicion of insurance fraud by arson.

Butte County Sheriff’s Office deputies found an abandoned vehicle with fire damage on Feb. 17, according to the news release. Cal Fire police examined the vehicle and reportedly determined that someone had intentionally set the fire. Investigators discovered the car was registered to Wallers, which led to his arrest Monday.

Wallers was arrested on suspicion of filing a false insurance claim, destroying property with intent to defraud and conspiring to set fire to property.

Wallers’ bond is set at $65,000 and he is also being held on a probation violation charge.
