Lancaster County nurse charged with sexual abuse of mentally disabled resident

LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) – A caregiver at a Lancaster County business that cares for the disabled was charged Monday after police say he sexually assaulted a resident.

The indictment filed by Manheim Township police states that Jeffrey Stotler, 58, of Elizabethtown, was charged after test results came back in July showing that his DNA was found on the woman.

According to police, at the time of the alleged sexual assault, Stotler was working as a caregiver for Faithful Homes LLC, a disability services provider that provides housing for patients.

Stotler is accused of allowing the woman he was caring for to sexually touch him on Saturday, February 10, at a home owned by Faithful Homes on Hampton Lane.

According to the police indictment, the woman felt a “wetness” when Stotler touched her with his genitals and penetrated her. Stotler is also accused of kissing the woman.

A DNA swab was taken from Stotler and the woman. According to the prosecution, the DNA was semen and not saliva. She had stated that he had touched her sexually in February. When the results came back, there was a match, police said.

Stotler denied any sexual contact with the woman but admitted to hugging her, police said.

Stotler is charged with aggravated sexual assault and sexual assault in an institution. He also faces a charge of sexual assault.

Stotler is free on $150,000 unsecured bail pending a preliminary hearing on July 29.
