Sports coach must appear in court today on charges of sexual harassment of three girls

The 45-year-old sports coach of a Suva club who is alleged to have sexually abused three girls aged 13, 14 and 16 in Suva ten times will appear before the Suva Magistrate’s Court today.

The man is accused of eight counts of sexual assault and one count of indecent touching.

According to police, the man sexually abused three girls between February last year and March this year.

They say the man was the victims’ sports coach and it is alleged the incident occurred during training sessions.

They add that they will take aggressive action in cases involving vulnerable people.

Police are urging all parents to be vigilant when sending their children to training or other activities and are urging young people to be confident and to report any unpleasant matters to them immediately.
