East Providence man arrested for hit-and-run, obstructing an officer and driving without a license

PROVIDENCE – Police arrested 39-year-old Charles King at 6:10 p.m. at his East Providence residence. He was charged with failure to stop after an accident involving vehicle damage, obstructing a police officer and driving without a license for the fourth or subsequent time.

The arrest followed an investigation by Lincoln Woods Barracks into an incident involving King.

After the investigation led officers to King’s home at 148 Sutton Avenue, he was taken into custody without further incident.

King’s case was handled at the barracks, tried by a justice of the peace, and then transferred to the Adult Correctional Institution’s male reception center.

The exact details of the accident that led to the charges were not immediately released by authorities.
