Police say woman is in critical condition after stabbing at Miami airport

The “situation was quickly brought under control,” airport officials said.

A woman was stabbed in a terminal at Miami International Airport late Saturday and was hospitalized in critical condition, leading to disruptions at the airport, police and airport officials said.

An adult male suspect was arrested at the scene, Miami-Dade police said.

The woman was attacked at around 11:30 p.m. on the upper floor of Terminal J in the international arrivals hall, police said. The “situation was quickly brought under control,” airport officials said.

“We want to reassure the public that the situation is under control and the safety of our passengers, employees and visitors remains our top priority,” the Miami-Dade Aviation Authority said.

Nearby passengers had to be diverted to other checkpoints or terminals, hampering traffic in the airport for about two hours, officials said.
