Watsonville man arrested for drunk driving after chase with CHP

The California Highway Patrol said it arrested a Watsonville man after he took them on a chase. It happened Wednesday morning. CHP officers said they observed a black Jeep SUV going over the speed limit on South Highway 1 near Rio Del Mar Boulevard. In a social media post, officers said they tried to pull the driver over, but he fled. A chase then began. “The driver recklessly evaded CHP officers, but they took legal action to safely end the pursuit,” the CHP said in the social media post. The 25-year-old driver was uninjured and taken into custody. He was charged with fleeing a felony, driving under the influence and outstanding warrants, the CHP said. The California Highway Patrol said they arrested a Watsonville man after he took them on a chase.

This happened Wednesday morning. CHP officers said they observed a black Jeep SUV exceeding the speed limit on South Highway 1 near Rio Del Mar Boulevard.

In a social media post, officers said they tried to stop the driver, but he fled, and a chase began.

“The driver recklessly evaded CHP officers, but officers took legal action to safely end the pursuit,” CHP said in the social media post.

The 25-year-old driver was uninjured and taken into custody.

He was charged with fleeing from a crime, driving under the influence and outstanding warrants, CHP said.
