One dead after car crashes into tree in Park City

PARK CITY – One person was killed after their car struck a tree and burst into flames early Thursday morning, according to state police.

Sergeant Cameron Roden of the Utah Highway Patrol said a black 2019 Subaru WRX was traveling south on State Route 224 near the intersection of Kearns Boulevard when it left the road before 1:45 a.m.

The Subaru struck a tree and burst into flames. Roden said the driver, whose identity has not yet been released, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The SR 224 was closed for several hours. The cause of the accident is not yet known.
