Toms River Standoff Homes owner killed and dismembered by fugitive: OCPO

TOMS RIVER, NJ — The owner of the Toms River home where a Manchester man wanted for murder held off authorities for nearly seven hours killed the homeowner, dismembered his body and then took the man’s body to a Jackson property, the Ocean County District Attorney’s Office said Monday.

In addition, three people who were in the house with Maxwell Johnston on the day of the standoff have been charged with desecration of human remains. They are accused of helping Johnston dismember and dispose of the remains, said District Attorney Bradley D. Billhimer.
