ANDERSON, SC (WSPA) – A suspect in an attempted murder case was arrested Saturday, according to Anderson officials.

Anderson police urged residents to come forward if they see Da’Shawn Larkeith Johnson, who is accused of stabbing a woman.

Officers arrested the 24-year-old at around 7:14 p.m. on Snow Road.

According to Anderson Police, an officer was called to a Marchbanks Avenue apartment on Saturday morning for a stabbing.

On the way to the apartment, an officer reportedly noticed a car traveling at a high rate of speed with its hazard lights on. The officer followed the car to AnMed, where the driver helped transport an unconscious woman to the hospital.

According to a police report, the officer said the woman was “covered in blood from head to toe” and had a knife handle sticking out of her lower back.

The officer and hospital staff took the woman to the emergency room.

The woman who drove the victim to the hospital told police there was an “ongoing issue” between Johnson and the victim. The woman said Johnson had been visiting the victim and his children and she was there to supervise the visit.

The woman heard Johnson and the victim arguing before she realized something bad had happened. She told police that was when she realized the victim was injured and took her to the hospital.

According to police, the victim suffered numerous cuts to both arms and face that require extensive medical attention. She also suffered a deep stab wound to her lower back that required emergency surgery.
