LoP Danves' suspension was shortened, allowing him to participate in the proceedings in the House of Representatives

Mumbai, July 4 (SocialNews.XYZ) The Maharashtra Legislative Council on Thursday reduced the suspension of Opposition leader Ambadas Danve from five days to three.

This will help LoP Danve to participate in the proceedings in the House of Representatives starting Friday.

Danve, the Shiv Sena (UBT) incumbent for Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, was suspended for five days (till July 8) on Tuesday for using abusive and derogatory remarks against BJP MP Prasad Lad during discussions on Monday.

Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Uddhav Thackeray had on Tuesday said the decision to suspend Danve was unilateral and a planned conspiracy.

He, however, apologised for Danve’s remarks if they had hurt women, but asked what action had been taken against the BJP and Shiv Sena leaders for making such remarks outside Parliament.

Shiv Sena (UBT) MPs on Wednesday urged Maharashtra Legislative Council Deputy Chairman Neelam Gorhe to lift Danve’s suspension as he was ready to apologise for his words.

Danve subsequently apologized to Gorhe in writing on Wednesday.

Chandrakant Patil, minister for legislative affairs of Maharashtra state, on Thursday proposed reducing Danve’s suspension to three days, citing his apology.

The State Council unanimously passed a resolution to shorten his suspension.
