False report of gun possession prompted police presence on Lawn Avenue

Albany police have released more details about an incident on Lawn Avenue on Tuesday that sparked a major response.

The incident occurred around 4 p.m. Police received a call from a woman experiencing a mental health crisis who reported that a man with a gun was on the street, said Megan Craft, spokeswoman for Albany police.

Officers arrived and detained several people pending further investigation. Police cleared the scene after determining that no one was on the street with a weapon.
