Man arrested for raping 6-year-old girl

Shahjahanpur (UP): A man was arrested here for allegedly raping a six-year-old girl in his neighborhood, police said on Thursday.

According to police, the incident occurred on Wednesday evening when the girl was playing in front of her house.

The girl’s neighbour took her to his house and allegedly raped her, said police commissioner Ashok Kumar Meena, adding that the accused fled when her family members heard her screams and rushed to the scene.

The accused was later arrested and the girl was sent for medical examination, the police official said, adding that the case was being investigated further.
