Sean Combs is being investigated by a federal grand jury in New York

Sean “Diddy” Combs is the subject of a new federal investigation in the Southern District of New York, NBC reported Wednesday. Investigators will present their findings to a federal grand jury, but no charges are pending, according to the network.

The nature of the investigation is unknown, but NBC says Combs is not a specific target at this time; as a subject, he will be included in the scope of the investigation to some extent.

It is not known whether this case is related to the May report that federal investigators are preparing to bring several women who have accused Combs of misconduct before a federal grand jury.

The report comes as the rap mogul faces numerous lawsuits and allegations of sexual harassment and other misconduct. Among other things, Diddy’s longtime girlfriend Cassie alleged in a civil suit in federal court in November that she was repeatedly physically and sexually abused. Combs denied this but settled the suit the next day. The following week, two different women filed lawsuits accusing him of rape and abuse decades earlier.

In May, surveillance video from the hotel from 2016 was leaked showing Combs brutally attacking Cassie.

On June 4, Combs sold his majority stake in Revolt, his hip, youth-culture-focused media company, where he resigned as chairman in November following Cassie’s lawsuit. The company did not reference the footage from the previous month, but three days later, Howard University revoked the honorary doctorate it awarded Combs in 2014, which specifically referenced that video.
