Seven workers, including five women, were killed in an accident involving a firecracker unit in Sivakasi, Tennessee

Sivakasi: Seven workers, including five women, were killed and three others injured in a fire at a fireworks factory in Sivakasi on Thursday, police said.

Police and fire brigade took the injured to the government hospital in Sivakasi.

The condition of one person among the injured was critical, a senior police official said, adding that the cause of the fire was being investigated.

Around 10 workers were employed at the private firecracker factory at Sengamalapatti near Sivakasi in Virudhunagar district when the blast occurred in the afternoon, he said.
