Police working to identify shooter in Route 222 crash | Berks Regional News

WYOMISSING, Pennsylvania – Police said the person wanted in connection with a road rage incident that resulted in shootings in Wyomissing is a man in his 20s.

“The passenger of an older black Honda headlight reached out and fired several shots at the victim,” said Wyomissing police Lt. Paul Baur.

Police said the incident occurred around 12:45 p.m. Monday on Route 222 South near the Berkshire Mall.

“Officers found several cartridge cases on site,” said Baur. “Later, they found a victim’s vehicle that had been hit.”

According to investigators, the vehicle was hit twice and no one was injured.

“The driver of this vehicle stated he was on 12 West in the city and approaching 422 West when he became involved in an incident of driving aggression,” Baur said.

According to police, the shooter used a pistol.

This shooting occurred about a month after what state police described as a fatal driving-related shooting on the Pennsylvania Turnpike near the Berks-Lancaster County line.

Drivers said there was no reason for violence on the streets.

“I’m too old for that. That didn’t exist in my day. We didn’t do anything like that,” said Glenn Reed of Wyomissing.

“There are just slow drivers, there are aggressive drivers. People just can’t handle it, I guess,” said Tony McKnight of Mohnton.

Police said they were working to identify the shooter.
