LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – Family and friends will hold a candlelight vigil Wednesday for a 28-year-old woman who died last week after falling from the hood of an SUV, according to police.

The Clark County Coroner’s Office identified Alondra Rivera as the person discovered near Nellis and Charleston Boulevards around 11:30 p.m. Friday night.

According to police, Rivera was fighting with an unknown person on the hood of an SUV.

The driver reportedly made several stops, possibly causing Rivera to fall and hit his head; the driver then left the scene of the accident, police said.

Steve Newland, a friend of Rivera, admits her loss was heartbreaking.

“She was just a good, solid person, she was a good friend, and the Las Vegas community in general needs more people like her,” Newland said. “She will be greatly missed.”

Police also said they were treating the incident as a “suspected murder.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact the LVMPD Homicide Unit at 702-828-3521 or email [email protected]. To remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers or call 702-385-5555.

Rivera’s family is holding a vigil at 7 p.m. Wednesday near Sahara Avenue and Winterwood Boulevard.

Rivera’s family has set up a GoFundMe account to help the family pay for their funeral expenses.
