Atlanta Dream’s Laeticia Amihere Named to Canadian Olympic Team

Laeticia Amihere is one of the two Olympians of the Atlanta Dream.

ATLANTA — Atlanta Dream forward Laeticia Amihere will head to Paris for the 2024 Olympics after being named to Team Canada on Tuesday.

Amihere was selected eighth overall in the 2023 draft by the Dream, and the Ontario native has been a member of the Canadian national team for several years.

“I’m excited to be competing in my second Olympic Games with more experience under my belt,” Amihere said in a press release issued by the Dream. “This will be my first opportunity to play in front of my family for Team Canada. I’m proud to be able to represent my country, my family and showcase all the hard work I’ve put in.”

The Dream are also sending Rhyne Howard to Paris, where she will compete in Team USA’s 3×3 basketball competition.

Amihere, 22, was also part of Canada’s team at the Tokyo Olympics. She has made 27 total appearances with the senior national team since 2017, according to the Dream’s release.

Canada will face Olympic hosts France on July 29 in its first match at the Olympics. It will then play matches against Nigeria and Australia in Group B.
