MUAY THAI TRAINER ACCUSED OF MANAGING AND SEXUALLY USING A TEEN

KOTA BHARU, June 24 (Bernama) – A Muay Thai trainer was today charged in the District Court with three counts of rape and sexual assault of a 17-year-old girl, as well as burglary.

Muhammad Haziq Aiman ​​​​Azhar, 25, pleaded not guilty to all charges before Judge Zulkifli Abllah.

Muhammad Haziq Aiman ​​​​was accused of raping the teenager at 4am in January and again at 4am on April 9 at a house in Bachok, nearby, and sexually assaulting her at 5.45am on June 3 at the same house.

The charges were brought under Section 376(1) of the Penal Code and Section 14(d) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 and are punishable under Section 14 of the same Act. If convicted, each offence is punishable by imprisonment for a term of up to 20 years and by flogging.

Muhammad Haziq Aiman ​​​​was also charged with breaking into the teenagers’ house at 5:45 p.m. on June 3 and sexually assaulting them. The charge was based on Article 455 of the Penal Code, which carries a sentence of up to 14 years in prison and a fine or beating.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Ahmad Faiz Fitri Mohamad refused to offer the accused bail without legal representation, citing the seriousness of the crime as he is a minor.

The court has set July 24 as the date for the case to be heard, when the defendant can appoint an attorney.
